Privacy at Spin the Look
Last updated October 29, 2026.
The short version: no ads and no tracking cookies on this site. An account is free and optional. If you make one, we keep your email, what you save, your thumbs, the sizes you pick, and the outfit photos you upload with what Claude read from them. Otherwise we keep only the feedback you choose to send.
What stays on your device
Your settings (women's or men's, budget, event, style, colors, stores, which boxes are on and whether spin sounds are on), the pieces from your last 50 spins (so a reload shows you new ones), your thumbs and the tips you've already seen are saved in your browser's local storage, along with the day of your first visit and which weeks you've visited (for visit counts, below). If you sign in, it also notes your email and the sizes you picked, so the page knows to load your account and your first spin lands in your sizes. These don't leave your device. Clearing your browser's site data removes them. After the bot check (below), a pass for your thumbs and visit counts stays in your browser's session storage until you close the tab or 12 hours pass. It says only when it ends, not who you are.
Accounts
You can use Spin the Look without an account. If you make one, we keep your email, when you joined and last visited, which weeks after joining you came back (to count how many members return), the pieces and outfits you save (a copy of each piece's name, store, price, photo link and product link, plus the settings an outfit was spun under), your thumbs, and whether you said yes to emails. We don't keep a password, your IP address or a device ID.
To sign in, you get a 6-digit code by email or continue with Google. Codes are sent by Resend, which gets your email address to deliver them. If you continue with Google, Google tells us your email and your Google account ID, and its privacy policy applies. The code form has a bot check (below).
Signing in sets one cookie, which keeps you signed in on that device for up to a year after your last visit. It's for sign-in only, not tracking. Signing out removes it.
We use your account to show you what you saved, to tune your spins with your thumbs, and to see how many people use the app. We email you about your account, like sign-in codes. We send news, new looks and deals only if you said yes, and every one has a way to stop them. You can change your answer in your account.
To delete your account, sign in, tap the account button at the top, then Delete account. That deletes your email, saves, outfits, thumbs, sizes, photos and photo reads on every device, right away.
Your sizes
Members can pick their sizes in the Size sheet: a size for tops, bottoms and shoes, for women's or men's pieces, or Any. We keep only those picks with your account, so every spin lands in them on any device. We don't ask for measurements or read sizes from your photos, and Claude never sees your sizes. When a store's link can open a size, Shop opens yours, so the store sees which size you looked at, like any visit to its site. Picking Any for every box, or deleting your account, removes them.
Photos you upload
Members can upload an outfit photo to Match a look. Before the photo leaves your device, the app makes it smaller and redraws it, which leaves out its location and camera data. We send it to Claude, made by Anthropic, which reads the clothes: each piece, its colors and details, the style and the kind of event they suit. Claude is told to read only the clothes, never the person. Anthropic doesn't use photos sent this way to train its models.
When Claude finds an outfit in your photo, we keep that smaller copy with your account, in our storage at Cloudflare, plus a tiny copy for your list. You see your photos under Match a look, where you can spin one again or delete it. Besides you, only we can see them, to make matching better. We never show them to other people or use them for ads. A photo with no outfit in it, or one Claude can't read, isn't kept.
We also keep what Claude read (the pieces, colors, style, event and a short line like "Leather jacket, white tee, straight jeans"), the time, women's or men's, what the read cost, and a code made from the photo, so the same photo sent again doesn't count twice. We use it to count your 20 photos a day and to see how Match a look gets used. Deleting a photo deletes its copies, and what Claude read stays, so it still counts toward that day. Deleting your account deletes your photos and all of this.
Feedback you send
If you send feedback, we save your rating and reasons, your note, the email or handle you add (optional), your settings at the time, the outfit on your screen, how many spins you'd done, your screen size and the time. We don't save your IP address or a device ID. We also get each note by email, sent through Resend. We use feedback to improve the app and to reply when you ask. To have a note deleted, send another note asking us to.
Thumbs up and down
When you tap a thumb on a piece, we save which piece, up or down, the box it was in, and your settings at the time (women's or men's, budget, event, style and colors). We don't save your IP address or a device ID. We use thumbs to improve the spins and the stores. Your thumbs also stay on your device, where they shape your next spins. Without an account you get 3 thumbs. With one, your thumbs are also kept in your account, so they follow you to any device.
Bot check
The code form, the feedback form and your first thumbs tap of a visit without an account have a bot check, Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at signals from your browser to tell people from bots. It also runs once a visit without an account, so our visit counts leave bots out. Most people see nothing. See the Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Visit counts
We count visits, spins, locks, Shop taps, shares and sign-ups as daily totals, and how many people come back after their first visit. Without an account, your browser sends only those counts and yes-or-no answers, like "first visit" or "came back this week", never an ID, so we can't tell your visits apart from anyone else's. If you came from a tagged link, like the one in our TikTok bio, the visit also counts under that tag. With an account, we also note which weeks you came back (see Accounts).
Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies. Cloudflare also hosts the site, and like any host, it handles your IP address to deliver the pages. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
In ChatGPT
Spin the Look also works as a ChatGPT plugin. When ChatGPT uses it, ChatGPT sends our server the settings for that spin: women's or men's, the budget, event, style, colors, which pieces are on, and the IDs of any pieces to keep. ChatGPT also sends hints with each call, like your language, a rough location and IDs it makes up for your account and chat. Our server uses the settings to answer and keeps none of it.
The Spin the Look card in the chat then loads our catalog and the store photos, like the site does, and spins there. After each spin, it tells ChatGPT which pieces landed (each piece's name, store, price, color and ID), so the chat can talk about the outfit. What ChatGPT keeps is covered by OpenAI's privacy policy. The card sends us no visit counts or thumbs, has no sign-in and sets no cookies. Shop links in the card work as below.
When you tap Shop
You go to the store's own site. Some Shop links pass through an affiliate network first, so the store can credit us if you buy. The store and the network may set their own cookies, and their privacy policies apply. The link tells them which part of the app you tapped from, such as the receipt, the Halloween event or the ChatGPT card. It never says who you are.
